The ‘working’ ends of both the BigSpike and the Little Spike – as well as the handle of the LittleSpike – are made of Tenzaloy™. After testing a number of metallic and composite materials under a variety of conditions, we found Tenzaloy to have the ideal physical and mechanical properties for use in firefighting applications.
Tenzaloy™ is a special alluminum-like alloy, non-conductive, lighter than steel, and is exceptionally strong. Its weight and strength make it ideal for anything that must be carried or lifted. Tenzaloy is particularly well-suited for use in aggressive applications where load carrying capacity and impact strength are essential.
